I am running a Yamaha 60 on my Montauk, with manual tilt.

I have not been able to find a "transom saver" that is long enough to extend under to the trailer, and I am about to trailer the boat for a fair distance. I would like to lower the motor onto a wooden spacer block to raise the leg a comfortable height off the pavement.

Any tips I should be aware of on this, such as how to secure the block in place?

I have used a two by 4 for years, I some times notch it to match the bracket, some times do not even worry about it. Cheap but you can get expensive and use pressure treated wood. Maybe I'm wrong but it has worked for me for over 40 years, or since they came out with trim and tilt, can't remember when I first used the wooden block method. I should say I have even drilled a hole in the wood and put an lanyard on it in case it did fall out but it never has.

I have used that method with my 35-hp Mercury. Once it did fall out going over bumps, but it was tethered to the boat. And I think the adjustment of my reverse lock got messed up its hooks bearing on the block. Some mortised slots may have prevented that.
