fabricator	posted 09-28-2007 04:03 PM ET (US)         I posted this in the wrong area, thought I'd try again: I've got a 1993(?) Merc 25 tiller that came with my 'new' Whaler. I'd like to convert it to wheel steering. Has anyone done this? Got any links? Is it worth the effort, or should I hunt down an engine already set up this way? I tried a search here, but I must be doing something wrong. Thanks, David
rtk	posted 09-28-2007 04:36 PM ET (US)             I did a conversion on a Johnson 25 back in the eighties. There was a kit available from Johnson I believe. I wasn't terribly difficult to do. Have the serial number ready and give a Mercury dealer a call to see if the parts are available. Rich
fabricator	posted 09-29-2007 09:55 PM ET (US)             Unfortunately my local Mercury dealers are usless, if I don't carry my stuff in there with a grocery bag full of money they aren't interested. I'll keep researching in the meantime.
