I just purchased a 1999 Evinrude 115 hp Ficht 25 inch shaft motor. I got the motor so cheap. I am bound and determined to hang this motor. I've looked at fixed jack plates and adjustable jacking plates from T-H Marine. I know I have to raise the motor. Would a fixed plate be better or the adjustable one. Would having the motor hanging further back affect performance. Would some feedback. Don't try to talk me out of hanging motor. Its going on hook or by crook.

Most adjustables will mount motor further back. Usually gives slightly more speed.Usually cost more and not worth the $$ for minimal speed advantage.More speed is not something you are gonna need. |

Do you mean manual or hydraulic or fixed VS adjustable(by wrench)? Like I said in your other post, having a 25" on a 17 is no big deal. Just get the 5-6" setback with at least 5" of lift then mount engine up on plate another 2" so a total of about 6.5" or so and you will be good to go. |
