Looking for dimensions, photos, drawings, ANYTHING for the 'table' piece for the Outrage cuddy cabin. The piece I'm referring to fits between the port and starboard bunks and stretches from the bow/anchor locker back towards the cabin door.

I've inquired before and never gotten anything. I've asked Chuck Bennett at Whaler and he cannot find any old drawings for this piece. I'm getting ready to re-do all the cushions in the cabin and would like to do it all at once if possible.

I'm trying to fabricate this on my own for two reasons:

1. To provide a safer haven for my toddler while on the boat. This way I don't have to worry about him falling off the cushions and down into the floor space, porta potty, etc.

2. To make a larger sleeping area. I often anchor out overnight and would like an easier area to lay down in and not worry about rolling over and down onto the floor.

Asking for any existing info so I can avoid making something that would end up rubbing/damaging the interior of the cabin. I have lots of great ideas that turn out less-than-stellar later when some of the 'gotchas' start showing up. Hoping to avoid that this time!

Thanks to all in advance.

Does anyone know if the table out of the Revenge is the same table? John

Ed,
I beleive that the Revenge 22 cuddy table/filler is the same part, and will fit an Outrage 22 Cuddy. I base this on visual inspection, the notches in my interior trim and the fact that Whaler generally kept things pretty interchangable. I have not tried to use a Revenge table in my Outrage Cuddy. I hope this helps.

I have the table/filler to my Revenge 25 Walkthrough. If we can confirm it is the same as the table/filler for the Outrage 22 Cuddy, I can give the dimensions.

Looking at the catalogs and price lists it appears the table/filler for the Revenge 25 Walk Through is not the same as the table/filler for the Revenge 22 Walk Through, though the Revenge 20 WT and the Revenge 22 WT share the same part number.

The Revenge 22 and Revenge 25 walk Around have separate and unique part numbers for these parts as well.

At any rate, I can find no mention of such a table filler for any of the Outrage Cuddy models.

In light of the results of my search, would anyone with the table piece from a Revenge be willing to forward some pictures of the leading edge and the points where it secures to the locker sides? I'm trying to figure out what the original design for the table was so I can duplicate the fit.

At this point I'm just looking for the method, I'll alter the dimensions accordingly once I have the design for the contact points.

Thanks in advance, again!

Home Aside, is there any chance you can post pictures through this site to be available to others? I'm interested too. I have a 1983 22 Outrage Cuddy. Thanks!

How mine looks, now that I have taken all the crap out of there. I need a bigger boat. Any how, my board doubles the storage and that is quite a hole to fall into. Do not store anything in there bigger than a 6-pack.

How it is suppose to look.

Notice the notches.

Look, a crapper.

It's built like a brick crap house.

You turn it around and it fits in those notches you noticed and it makes a nifty table, that I have never used.

If I was building my own center piece/table/crapper cover thingy, I would make it longer to fill the hole. Maybe with a flip up panel to access the hole. John

John,
Thanks for the pics, I have a clearer idea of what the original intent was. I thought the piece was going to be a simple flat cover. I thought the notches in the side locker doors were a way to keep it from sliding around and you were just SOL if you wanted to open the lockers.

I want to make it stretch from the front locker almost all the way back to the cabin entrance. And I agree, a flip door to access the void when the entire piece is in place is a good idea. That was one of my wish-list items when doing this. An interior access will almost be a necessity in accessing the locking mechanism I'll have to put inside since the entire assembly will have to fold nearly flat due to the dimensions I want in order to get it in the cabin door. Or maybe not, will have to measure the table height vs the door width to see if I can do it the simple way. Either way, a top access will be in the works for this.

This really clarifies my plans. Thank you VERY much for going to the effort of taking and posting those pictures! I hope others here can benefit from them as well.

No problem Eric, it forced me to remove all the stuff I had thrown in there, clean it up a bit, and get to work water proofing the UV challenged hatch. John

Eric, please keep us updated on what you ultimately build. I have been noodling on this for my own Outrage Cuddy for some time now. I've been making do with a crude plywood filler that just overlaps the hatches, and has a small wood lip tacked to the bottom of it to keep it from sliding around. It works fine for camping in the cuddy (I made an equally crude cushion for it) but when in place, it makes it very hard to get to anything stored in the cuddy well, including the porta potty. In addition, it prevents access to the forward locker, which is where I store my anchor. When I put the filler in, I have to first pull out the anchor and store it in the forward cooler. Big hassle, and not very elegant. My ideal would be a filler piece that was in sections, so it could be stored out of the way in the cabin, but easily put together for use at night when sleeping aboard (or for the kids when they need a mid day snooze).

Martins photographs are exactly the same as what I would have posted, my rig is the same.....I too want to make a filler panel for that last little space, to make just a little more room for stretching out......Jimh made one for his Revenge 22 WT

Moving and storing that filler/table piece to use the Portie Potty is one big pain. When designing something, try to avoid moving it. I really try to poop on shore, but some bays have private shorelines. It is the number one problem with boat camping on the Revenge. Problem number two is convenient fresh water. John

JMartin,
I agree and use my porta potti in emergenies only, for the wife & kids.....as far a fresh water while camping that is one of the benefits of the Great Lakes, just jump in and swim for a short time, depending on which Great Lake the swim can be much shorter, you can also pack along a water purifier system......much different for you guys in the salt water environment
I always carry a case of bottled water on board, I freeze them ahead of time(double duty keeping food cold in the cooler, then drink them when they thaw) when finished with one I step on them & flatten them and then screw the cap back on so they stay flat, remarkably they take up very little space that way, especially when you have to hang on to trash until your trip is over, like Buckda, Dave Pendelton & I did on our trip to Isle Royal National Park last summer......
