Hi guys,

We have spent several hours trying to remove the powerhead from a 2001 Optimax 150 without any success. Actually we have succeeded on one side, as we can finally see a very small gap starting to appear but on the other side she is completely stuck on the 2 long bolts. The middle long bolt seems totally stuck. We have tried everything we could think of. We have currently tipped the outboard upside down, with several wedges in all corners applying a considerable amount of pressure and we have created a sealed pocket over the middle bolt and filled it with CRC hoping the in the next couple of days this will gradually work its way in and the wedges will pop it open. We excluded the idea of using heat as we were worried that this could cause more damage or lock things even more.

Can anyone shed some light on what is the best way to pop the powerhead after having removed the 5 + 5 bolts? I can't wait to get started with rebuilding this engine.

Thanks in advance, Adri

Had to cut into the block on mine, same place on the long bolts. I had a carbed Evinrude. But first had to cut into the cowling to gain access to the block. Bill ran up quick. Bought new!
Hope you have better luck than I did with mine.
