Which color on Interlux's color chart is the nearest match to Desert Tan. It looks like the (Cream) one to me. Any body with any experience with their colors.

No idea on interlux but almond appliance paint is a dead ringer. |

I doubt anything matches perfectly. Are you trying to paint the bottom or touch up places above the waterline? If you're doing the former, I suggest going with something that matches the trim rather than the hull, such as black or red. If you're doing the latter, I suggest getting a gelcoat repair kit from Spectrum in Desert Tan. Aside from any fading that may have occured, it should match perfectly. |

Unfortuantely the cream has a touch of yellow and doesn't match or even go with it.I used the (2) part cream inside my Katama and on the console; - I will probably use white on the hull. This project is not going well. |

The cream is much darker than the desert tan. I had to return 3 quarts of Perfection and swap for Oyster White. Oyster White is lighter but is probably a better choice because the lighter color doesn't show imperfections as well. Ideally, I think a 50-50 mixture of the 2 would probably be a close match. |

Thanks guys. This project has been alot of work. I want to get the right color paint. My local autopaint place can match it exactly. They said It would work using a premium base coat clear coat if I used a premium 2 part expoxy primer. Have any of you tried this? |

While Scott knows this, I thought others may not.Jeff R worked very hard last year and obtained a custom matched anti-fouling paint for his Outrage. It came out extremely well, in my opinion. It was not an easy project. |

DO NOT use automotive paint on your boat. If you're going to devalue your boat by painting it, at least use a marine paint like Awlgrip. At lest then it will still have some residual resale value. |

BS...an automotive paint can be JUST fine if the right kind of paint. Do you think Imron was a marine paint...WRONG it was for airplanes originally. If you want to match the paint..again Krylon almond appliance paint is about a perfect match as you will find...take a can to your finish store. I would however NOT use a base/clear, not on a boat. |

A good portion of buyers will flatly refuse to buy a boat that has been painted, no matter the quality of paint used. I am one of them.Paint is for houses and cars, and even steel and aluminum boats. But not fiberglass boats. Not now, not ever. |

I just recently used some 2o year old Z Spar Grand Banks Beige on my 1987 Outrage. It was just a little too dark. I wonder how Pettit Easypoxy Grand BankS Beige would work. Maybe a touch of white to lighten it up?Con |
