I've read a couple threads regarding the removal of cable steering and the install of a Teleflex steering system, but I see two suggested cable lengths. I also see warnings that getting too short of a cable will cause early failure. What is the proper length of Teleflex cable to purchase for a 1979 13 Sport?

What else will I need along with what comes in the Teleflex kit? I read that I will need a new Steering wheel, but will it pop right into my existing hole, or are there other parts to order?

Basically, if someone could provide a whole shopping list for me that would be best.

Thanks!

If you don't mind I would like to have one as well. My motor will be mounted onto a jack plate and will be 4"s back from the transom. Will I need any additional hardware because of the setback?
thanks

when I did my conversion, the folks at T&R marine (www.trmarine) had the entire list, including a nifty clamp to replace the offset bracket.

they love old whalers, and were really helpful
