I am in the throes of rebuilding my '62 13 ft whaler. I have original console from another 13 footer (11 7/8" tall by 16 15/16" wide) I was planning to use. However, just recently came across a console from 15 ft whaler I think. This one is 10 11/16" tall x 32" wide). Obviously this one is too wide for the 3 1/2"x 12" ply that has been built into the floor of my whaler. Anyone have any experience "anchoring" a wider console like this?? The one from the 15 footer is in better shape; however, if I can make it solid in the boat, not worth the effort. I can furnish pictures if you will send an email address; not sure how to post a picture here. thanks hank

You've clearly done your homework on this subject.

I had a similar concern when locating the interior of my 1966 13-foot Whaler farther forward than originally designed. I was still able to anchor the console to embedded plywood under the floor.

Truth is, if the console is otherwise well-attached to the boat, I don't think it matters so much how well it's anchored to the floor. For greater peace of mind, I would heed the advice frequently offered on this forum, namely, inject epoxy resin beneath the floor where you want to fasten the console.

thanks tom... didn't think about injecting the epoxy. I thought I would epoxy a varnished "foot" to the floorboard then attach the inboard leg to that foot. good idea... thanks hank
