I bought an older Rite Hite 6" manual off ebay. This seems a little too close for comfort as far as inside in engine well. I see some plugged holes on top of transom that would match up with bracket (13"). Those also look too high (close to top edge of transom...only about an inch). Bottom holes don't match up (10" I think) so I will have to drill new ones. It also seems like those bottom ones will be pushing it as far as the inside in the engine well. Anybody else been in the same boat ?

Where can I get some of those heavy duty washers? Marine shop?
Fastener specialty? fabricate my own and if so what material?

USe SS bolts abut you can use either SS or alum washers. If you like the curent holes, drill the plate to match, it only aluminum. Using the top holes is also fine. An inch should be plenty.

I will use any previous hole if it is CLOSE, if you know what I mean ?

What I really want to know is if these OLD BOATS can accommodate the LOWER holes without drilling out the PLATE ?
(Maybe it's ONLY my perception, IS THAT WHAT IT IS ???).

IN OTHER WORDS, OLD WHALER and EARLY nineties RITE HITE. DOES IT FIT OR DO I HAVE TO FORCE IT ? I HATE FORCING THINGS !!!!

THANKS
