I'm replacing my 40 gal below deck alum. tank (wet original foam & water sitting in top of tank led to corrosion). Any leads on good fabricators between Sacramento, CA and Portland OR that do this?? I'm thinking to modify the top with a slight v shape that gets deeper towards the stern so that 1) water does not sit atop and 2) so that the highest point of the tank is forward at the vent, since I found I was choosing gas stations with an uphill slope so that tank would vent properly when filling. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks

Look in the phone book any good metal shop should be able to handle this, Just remember to figure out were you want the fill, gauge, gas line, and vent...good luck

If you have a Revenge or Outrage I suggest you use the search feature (below new topic) and key off of "tank replacement"

If you do not re-foam the tank and use blocking pieces, you can drain the tank cavity.

If you search on Jeff R's 22 Outrage deck repair, you will see a small modification that he did to the tank cavity. By installing a water tube pickup in the rear of the cavity and prime-less pump, one can draw out any water.

If you check in the Reference section under fuel tanks, you will find the OEM manufacturer of under deck tanks. They still make them to the original specs.
They offer a barrier coat to help prevent any long term corrosion. Given that the old tanks last 20 + years, I am not sure if it is necessary.

Florida Marine Tanks. Great place to do business. I retanked my 1978 Revenge with a tank from them.
