I have been given a 15" Boston Whaler, about 25 years old. It is 15" long, measured from the bow to the end of the transom, looks like the super sport model. There is no serial number or identification that I could find. The body is in good shape, I will sand off the antifowling paint and gellcoat the whole boat. I am looking for the hardware for the boat which is currently rusted out. I require the complete rubrail + insert and cap ends. Also the bow eye, and norman pin, Ski head stearing colom. Any idea where I can get these items, the local boat stores do not carry the BW replacement parts. THank for you for any info you may have. Fons

Welcome to CW.The rubrail can be sourced through a dealer. For great service, many members contact Sue Lodell @ Twin Cities Marine. They are a master dealership and she is a pro at whaler parts. Check out the reference section, there is a good list of sources for parts.

If your boat has the original gel coat - restore it if at all possible. Original Boston Whaler gel coat is excellent. Painting or re-gelcoat should be the last resort, not to mention very expensive. Try #7 polishing compound on a spot and see how that works. If it needs more than that, try 600-1000 grit wet sandpaper. Then the # 7 polishing compound. You may be surprised how well that works. |

Welcome to CW, fons!I highly (and I mean HIGHLY) recommend Twin Cities Marine in Two Rivers, WI. You want to speak with Sue Lodell in the parts department. Tremendous knowledge of Boston Whaler parts and outstanding customer service. A fair amount of the original Whaler hardware is no longer available from BW. It turns up fairly frequently on ebay, but beware of substitutions. I believe the original bow eye was chrome over brass. You can have that re-chromed, and it will look literally better than new. I don't know what you mean by "Ski head stearing colom". The steering system (steering wheel to engine tilt tube) I'm quite sure was originally supplied by Teleflex. Teleflex is available at virtually any dealer or company that carries marine parts. It also shows up on ebay at substantially lower prices. Good Luck! |
