From your photographs the MONTAUK looks like it is in good condition, has all the major components intact, and has not been unscrupulously modified. It is a great starting point for your restoration.

On the cockpit face of the stern splash well it looks like there is some sort of lamp with a retractable cord mounted. I have that same device under the hood of my GM truck. It does not have a particularly nautical appearance.

I note that the previous owner(s) installed the electronics on the top of the helm console and routed the cables to starboard, then down under the windshield, finally entering the console via a hole in the fire extinguisher pocket. That is a nice detail. It avoids having holes in the top of the console which could admit water to the interior.

With all respect to Jim, exposed wires slipped under the windshield is not the best routing in my opinion. My main concern is the wires exposure to the elements. A secondary concern is the aesthetics of it.

Wrapping the wires in loom on the dash and having them pass through a hole covered with a grommet boot or clamshell vent is my preference.

The tank looks like an older Pate tank, and should probably be replaced with a tank that can handle ethynol.

The previous owner was quite proud of the stern light. It is out of a Suburban. It's days are numbered.

All wires will be routed through the top of the console and pass through watertight connectors. I am going to completely rewire the entire console area to create some more usable space.

I am having an aluminum tank fabricated and powder coated next week.

Nice boat! Move the battery switch and do a propper wiring job on the electronics.

Re that odd retractable lamp in the stern: I thought that looked familiar. I have a Suburban, too.

Great looking rig- can't wait to get mine outta storage.
I was interested to see that Evinrude 90 on there- I am thinking that my old Yamaha may need to be replaced in a few years and I had my eye on that white 90hp.

I also see your teak cover over the bilge area is in great shape, any idea where I can track one of those down? Mine is breaking apart
