I just installed a new Stiletto [propeller]--thanks Tom--on my [Yamaha] F60, but I want to check that I installed it correctly. There were two miscellaneous parts that were on the shaft before propeller that I did not use in the final installation, as the hub kit installation instructions did not identify them.

Have I done this correctly?

I have no idea whether you've installed that hub and prop correctly--sorry--but I'm running the same motor on my 15 CC and hope you'll provide some performance data when you're up and running. What pitch is that Stiletto?

Thx, Tony

KeyRat, Take off that last plastic washer and put on the large metal washer so the cup is toward you and then put the cup washer on with the cup towards you. This give you a distance form the splines to install the nut. high sierra

The small cup may be away from you. Brain fade. high sierra

Please do give performance info.

I have an F60 and am interested.

On a side note, I also have an Outrage 21 with a Yamaha F250 and once I installed a non-Yamaha, Merc Enertia prop, I gained substantial MPH and got better fuel economy.

Maybe this prop is better for the F60.

Key Rat, I'm glad you got the pics. I'm very curious which Stiletto you purchased from Tom. I am still far from rigging the new F60 to the 1988 center console conversion, but only have the factory 10.25 X 15, and Turbo Hot Shot 10.50 X 15 SS, from Tom. Looking for any info. on this prop. Thanks. zotcha.

Zot,

I installed the Stiletto Triad 3.5 with the C-014 hub kit.

10-1/2 13p

After break-in, I'll try to get you some numbers.

highsierra,

after a semi-painful call with precision propeller, they have indicated that I do not need to use the metal pieces (other than the thrust washer) that came with the motor.

She also indicated that I need to torque the prop to 50 ft lbs. Does that sound about right?

The washers should be used. That composite washer extends above the splines negating its' use. 50 lbs is overkill and will probably deform that spacer. high sierra

Thanks highsierra. I was hoping Tom would chime in as he is the one who sold me the prop but I have not heard from him.

I think I'll try 25 ft lbs and see how that feels before I go any tighter.

From the service manual for my OMC V-6:

"Install the propeller nut and tighten to a torque of 70-80 ft. lbs."

Check your service manual; the torque specification varies with engine model and brand.

Per the manual:

Tightening torque for engine:

- Propeller nut: 25.8 ft-lb

Not the manufacturer of the prop or hub kit, but I did find a clear diagram of the propeller installation procedure:

Yes, discard the extra two pieces.

The outboard's Owner's Manual specification page is usually a good place to look for the prop nut torque specification.

The service manual of an OMC V-6 is not a good place to find the prop nut torque specification for a Yamaha F60.

No real performance numbers (no speedo or gps) but I was able to hit 5600 RPM.

Keyrat, since I have the original owner's manual that came with the 60 Yamaha that I bought new 2 years ago. Page 54. I do have 4 props though and the Yamaha design is as I say. High sierra
