My gelcoat has some small areas of white spots or discoloration (maybe oxidation). I tried using compound and it helped some but still visible. Any suggestions?

Most likely, your compound, a bit of polishing, and waxing will be all you can really do.
It is possible that these spots are previous gel coat repairs that may have matched at one time and are now more noticeable.
Even the factory has some touch up at times.
