[Seeks] pictures or advise on installing a bow mount trolling motor on a 1996 Dauntless 15. I love this boat but I need to make it a little easier to fish from. I searched this site to come up with some ideas, but any further insight would be helpful.

Bowrail or not?

I have a bow rail now, but I don't mind removing it.

This is my solution. I like my bowrail so this is what I did. Not pretty but very functional and quick to put on and take off. It has served me well for years. I did have to get a trolling motor with an extra long 52" shaft.

Forgot to mention. The plastic block was a scrap from Midland Plastics in New Berlin Wisconsin. They have a scaps store in their lobby.

I routed out the circles for the clamp and filed the tilt stops so the motor would tilt extra far. You have to rout out the area for the clamps or the motor could twist itself off the block. Yeah, there is that much power and leverage. Especially with the 52 inch shaft.

I used stainless steel U-bolts and lock nuts with stainless steel backing plates.

My boat is odd in that it came with the fishing package AND a bowrail.

I just bought a 1995 15' Dauntless with a Riptide 80 Lb thrust 24 volt trolling motor mounted on the starboard bow.
I have it in to my marine electrician now to clean up the wiring but it looks to be a very practical solution to the bow mount issue. Shoot me an email and I will send you some pics
