| Author | Topic: Mounting a kicker on a 22 REVENGE |

I have been thinking about getting a kicker for our 22 REVENGE. We have a 225 Evinrude on an Armstrong bracket. The bracket is such that it does not run the entire length of the transom. When you look at it from the outside it appears that there is plenty of room for a kicker bracket to bolt up to the 14-18" between the bracket and the outside edge of the transom. Plenty of clearance w the big motor etc. But inside the transom area you see that the transom is actually almost 12 inches thick in the corners because of how they lay the glass. That is a long run that a bolt would have to run through the transom, and you have to bolt through the transom when you put a kicker bracket on. Anybody had any experience doing this? |

On mine, only three bolts go all the way, and one is counter sunk. The fourth one must be a lag bolt, but it is in the wood. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF4116.jpg The counter sunk one is gooped up. The brown hole is an oops that is normally gooped up. The wood is oak I think. Looks rough now but I am prepping it for another coat of paint. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF4115.jpg Works good with a gizmo that hooks the kicker up to the main motor to steer. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF2391.jpg John |

I have a 9.9 mounted on an adjustable motor bracket starboard side. I just tried hooking up the Panther dual steering kit...but the kicker is on an adjustable bracket which makes it like 8-10 inches behind my main motor. So the steering rod catches on the fat part of my main when I turn left too far. I know someone said to just bend the bar...but I am looking for more direction. Do I just make a large arcing bend in the bracket? Do I make an S kind of bend. Also any tips on making the bend? |

I moved my kicker from starboard to port. All the weight was on the starboard side, the helm, batteries, me. It did help even out the boat, but the tiller handle is pretty much useless now so you got to steer off the main. My arm had the bend in it when I got the boat. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/092506038-3.jpg John |
