Early 22 foot Whaler models with the plastic internal fuel tank were equipped with a sender for an electrically operated remote fuel gauge.

What year is the Outrage 22 in question?

Hey Tom,
It's a SWEET 1982 model. This is such a sweet boat. It has a 2000 Johnson 200hp with only 77 hrs! I totally scored. OK, I needed to vent :-). The installation looks totally factory direct so I think it's legit.

Yes, 1982 was one of (if not the) last year of the plastic fuel tanks and the remote fuel gauges for the 22's. I suspect your fuel tank sender/gauge is Whaler original equipment.

The original plastic fuel tanks had a capacity of 70 gallons vs. the 77 gallon capacity of the aluminum fuel tanks made by Florida Marine Tanks starting in 1984.

My 1983 has the 77 gallon aluminum tank and an electrical fuel gauge. Must be a transition year.

I believe my Dad's 1984 22' Guardian has a plastic 70 gallon tank, per his recollection when he refurbished the boat in 1994. I will confirm later this summer, but it sounds like the early side of '84/'85 is when this transition took place.
