There are a number of threads regarding raising both consoles and RPSs with both wood and plastics. Some are approaching 8 years old. I am about to undergo a similar install using some blocking under a leaning post to get the most comfortable height on the cushion. How have your projects weathered over the years? Any problems with wood shrinkage or splitting, or screw pulls in the plastic despite setting them with 5200? Is there anything aftermarket available that could be installed out of the wrapper with no/very little fabrication?

Thanks.

I do not believe you will find any prefabricated parts in plastic.

It pays to pre drill the plastic to prevent or reduce possibility of splitting with age.
Of course bolts are batter if practical.

Very few things stick to plastic/starboard or the like. Screws and bolts are the prime means of construction. Bed them in caulk and seal any holes.

You might find some wood parts here from some folks; possibly from whaler.

Wood will last if maintained. You might try sealing it in epoxy and coating that with cetol (not varnish).

Good luck
