I am trying to buy a service manual for my (9/99) [c.1999] 225 FICHT (that was described to me to be a 2000, but who is counting) and all I see is manuals for 1999 and 2000 225 FFI. Could someone with some knowledge of this product line confirm or deny that this manual would in fact be a FICHT service manual.

FFI stands for Ficht Fuel Injection, so I would say yes the manual you were looking at should cover your motor.

Post the model number of your motor so we can give you the correct part number of the appropriate factory service manual. There is a world of difference between a 1999 and a 2000 FICHT.

I think he has a motor with a build date of September 1999.

An outboard motor built in September of 1999 would most likely be a model-year 2000 motor.

Here are the relevant facts on the motor plate:
Engine Model # - E225FPXSSC
Engine Family - YI PXM0183221
Mfg Date - 9/99
Spark Plug - 7712 (and I thought it was QC21PEP ????)
Statement on Engine Plate - "This engine conforms to model year 2000"

Too much to tell. The 2000 and later motors have a complete redesign and were called FICHT Ram. All electronics are different. Completely redone charging system also.
