Topic:   montauk rear bench, peg needed?

posted 05-25-2009 01:52 PM ET (US)         I made a new rear bench for my montauk to replace a bench that was stolen. The new bench is incredibly rigid and does not flex at all when using only the side brackets in the boat. Questions is, are those brackets in the boat strong enough to support the bench without a weight bearing peg in the center of the bench like the original had? I just want to avoid damage to the boat.
