I have a 1989 Newport 17. When I bought this boat, it had a patch on top of the rim of the splash well. I don't know the original problem, but the patch looks like it is doing well, with no hair line cracks. I now notice two cracks inside of the splash well, one on each side, just off the bottom, each about two inches long. They don't look bad, but just noticeable. Do I need to worry about these? If so, what do you recommend? Thanks Stan

If they are hairline cracks or even a bit heavier, I'd just leave them alone. Even if you open them up a little to fill with gel coat, they almost always return. |

Common on older hulls but keep an eye on them. Your transom might not be sound since it was repaired once. But, again, small hairlines are VERY common in splashwells. |
