I have a 1989 Newport 17. When I bought this boat, it had a patch on top of the rim of the splash well. I don't know the original problem, but the patch looks like it is doing well, with no hair line cracks. I now notice two cracks inside of the splash well, one on each side, just off the bottom, each about two inches long. They don't look bad, but just noticeable. Do I need to worry about these? If so, what do you recommend?

Thanks
Stan

If they are hairline cracks or even a bit heavier, I'd just leave them alone. Even if you open them up a little to fill with gel coat, they almost always return.

Common on older hulls but keep an eye on them. Your transom might not be sound since it was repaired once. But, again, small hairlines are VERY common in splashwells.
