huntmccut	posted 05-29-2009 02:17 PM ET (US)         My 2002 [Mercury OptiMax motor] revs and stalls immediately after cranking. It is also accompanied by a alarm going off and what looks like a transmission light on a vehicle, maybe check engine. It has only occured twice in two years, but both times happened more than 30 [miles?] offshore, so scary. It is serviced regularly and has new water pump. [Solicits others who have] had this problem [to reply].
jimh	posted 05-29-2009 09:51 PM ET (US)             Twice in two years does not seem like much of a problem. I agree that if it happens when you are 30-miles offshore that does tend to magnify the gravity.
