I would like to install standard gauges for my E-TEC 90 HP engine, specifically water pressure and trim gauges. I know I can get the sensor kit enabling the I-Command gauge to read water pressure, but that's a pain to scroll through a menu. Trim option is not available for the 90-HP through I-Command. Water Pressure should be simple enough if it's anything like the old Evinrudes. I see the 2009 E-TEC 90-HP has a sending unit, however I am not sure if there is a terminal strip on the motor. Does the harness have a location to tap the gauge into? Installing two guages conveniently plugs up two 2-inch holes I have in my helm station panels :)

I have an analog gauge on my 2008 for the water pressure. There is a pipe plug on they upper rear starboard side of the block to install a nipple in and some tubing to a gauge.I don't have an electronic option pre-installed on my engine for water pressure so I have no knowledge of the way to tie into that. I do not have a trim guage on my boat so I don't know how to tie into that either. But, I think those wires are in the harness to the helm. Len |

The trim gauges will plug directly into the wiring harness. I can't remember the plug "shape" but seriously, it's plug and play.Don't have any experience with water pressure gauges, although those are next on my 18' Outrage. Dave |

For water pressure I assume you can connect a hose to the same point in the cooling water system that the electrical transducer would be connected to. Run the hose to a standard water pressure gauge. |

Thanks FolksJim... I am assuming that the electrical transducer is included in the optional BRP kit that adds WP to the I-Command. Indeed if I knew where that transducer is to be installed I would be home free. I am using an aftermarket gauge and need to know where to tap the 1/8" NPT nipple. Buckda.. Since I am using an aftermarket trim gauge I will not be using the BRP harness plug (if I can find it). But identifying the connector would go get me in the right directions. I'll report back with what I come up with applying your suggestions. Thanks Mike |
