I was thinking of increasing the size of the scuppers on my 1993 19 foot Outrage. It now has 1 1/2 ping-pong style scuppers. They don't drain as fast as I would like them to. It looks like all I need to do is drill larger holes and install the larger flap type scupper. Has anyone done this or have experience installing these scuppers. I'm a little apprehensive about drilling into the transom but it doesn't look like that big of a project.

I think you may have 2 problems1) You don't have any material to hold the central bit of a holesaw, so you will need some sort of temporary plug. 2) You may need to offset the hole slightly if your existing drain tubes are touching the deck. An alternative could be to add a Y connection in the drain tubes and add 2 more scuppers. I noticed this arrangement on some earlier 210 outrages Regards Steve |

No need for any type of temporary plug. Simply make a template out of a small scrap piece of plywood. Use the hole saw to cut a hole on the plywood and place the plywood over the area your want to re-drill using the plywood as a template. Aside from that, you may have to epoxy or glass in a piece of PVC and you should be good to go. |

I agree a template can work just as well, if you can hold it in place.A wooden plug made with a hole saw may be easier. Of course he could just replace his original ping-pong type with the same size rubber flap type scupper to see if that works first of all, before drilling larger holes etc. Regards Steve |
