[According to an email being circulated] the basic ingredient [of WD-40] is FISH OIL [which is later shown to be incorrect]. |

We had a corrosion expect teach a class at work and he claimed that WD-40 displaces water by absorbing some of it, and can contribute to corrosion. Not near as fast as just plain water. |

Yes they would be having to squeeze the oil out of a lot of fish every year. Dont try this even though it worked for me. On holiday a few years ago, I got bad ear ache possibly a bit of swim ear as we were in Florida and apparently does not dry out very well causing fungus to grow. I thought well I'll give it a try as it's only fish oil and it did work for me, (I did not use spray can and was later told it is not fish oil.) I have turned my attention to white spray lithium grease its just so good for so many things.(but not ears) |

Several years back, my son left red Crayons in his pocket and they were run through our brand new clothes dryer. Checked the Crayon website and they recommended a rag sprayed liberally with WD-40 and run through a complete cycle. Worked like a charm! |

When you get ANY fascinating e-mail, try the www.snopes.com Website first before forwarding it along. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/wd-40.asp Above is a link to this e-mail that was posted at the top of this thread. ...and the manufacturer's response which softens/omits some of the claims. It also addresses the myth of the fish oil base. Dave |

Thanks Buckda, can't disagree with you..I just thought it was interesting about the many uses for WD-40 and I've used a lot of them myself. It is a really good product. |

WD40 is definitely a useful degreaser, I have to give it that much credit. For example, it will quickly remove the dried grease from the steering shaft on your outboard. For the really dried stuff combine it with a brass or stainless brush. :) |
