I replaced the rub rail receiver and insert on my 1982 Outrage last winter. It has been parked in my backyard in Arizona since then. Most of the time It has been covered by a fitted synthetic cover. Much of the receiver has now changed to a brown color. It appears to be related to sun exposure or temperature, as the north side is less affected than the south. Does this happen in other parts of the country? Dave

Dave -

On my 15' Sport, I had the same problem on the side that was exposed to the sun. Southern Michigan, mostly dry but humid environment (under the tool shelter for a barn). This was under the Mills mooring cover.

My 18' Outrage has a "post classic" all black rubrail so I've not noticed this problem.

I used a bit of barkeepers friend which seemed to take care of it on my sport, if I recall correctly.

I've notice that the rubrail on my 91 Outrage 19 has gotten a bit darker than the original desert tan it was made with. It is not consistent either. Nothing, including acetone, barkeepers, pumice or compound has restored it. I am now replacing it with an all black version of the original which I purchased from Sue at Twin Cities Marine.

Thanks for the input. For outlaw2, I appear to have thrown out the leftover material. A rare event for me.
