I'm going to go with the Merc. 4S 60 on my 15'.

Thanks to elaelap for steering me away from the Bigfoot.

I'd like to know what prop. folks are running with the 1.83 gear ratio (standard L/U)?

Also, elaelap, you mentioned your mounting "One bolt hole up". Can you elaborate?

Thanks.

I'm very happy with a Turbo Hot Shot that I bought from Tom W Clark. Factory Yamaha was black powdercoated SS at 10.25 X 15. Tom set me up with 10.5 X 15 and stated it was closer to a 16. Very nice performing prop and rather inexpensive. I'd highly recommend it.

I'm running a manual jack plate and pretty high. Light load and factory prop was spinning up to the rev limitor at 6300. Turbo runs 42-43 mph per GPS and very rarely hits 6100 at max trim. Better be using the kill switch because she's a wild ride at that point. Best of luck. zot.

BTW, if you've got an extra $225, Bob's manual jack plate is really trick for running in shallow water, keeps the powerhead up out of the water, as well as the TnT. Its a really nice bonus.

Thanks Zotcha. I don't need to run anywhere near 40+.

How much of your performance do you attest to the jackplate?

We would need to contact dnh. I am expecting a call from him today. He is interested in purchasing the second 19 gallon aluminum fuel tank I have. He also has an F60 on his Classic 15 but transom mounted. I'd say the jack plate may possibly cause more chine walking and oscilation due to the fact that I have less lower unit in the water. I'm really not sure that I'm getting any more top end than a transom mounted engine. zot.

I'm in the process of converting a 1988 Classic 15 to a center console with a rigging tube. Not sure how many gallon tank I'm going to have built but tank and battery will be located inside the tilting console. 48 qt. cooler and cushion forward, and a 48 qt. cooler under the custom 32" wide leaning post. I have a 2008 F60 still in the crate, and a manual jack plate already mounted. I will be purchasing another SS prop from TWC and anticipate trying a prop that will give me more top end/speed.
