The side rod holders on my 1991 Outrage 19 are made of black Starboard. I assume the the previous owner wasn't too fussy when waxing. There is white substance (which I assume is unremoved and dried boat wax) in the nooks and crannies of the starboard.

Scrubbing and then using Meguairs color restorer removed a lot of the surface substance, but not what is in the nooks and crannies. I've tried xylol, orange degreaser, acetone and still cannot get it all off.

Any ideas? I am just about ready to decouple the racks and put them in the microwave to see if I can melt the wax. Any simpler ideas before I do?

Thanks,

Bob

I've used plain Soft Scrub with a stiff brush to remove wax on similar textures surfaces. A stiff toothbrush might work best for your project. Scrub, hose off and let dry. Soft Scrub also works great for removing wax on the wrap around rubber bumper & cleaning beat up fenders. Restore luster with 303 Aerospace protectant. Wipe the 303 dry per the package instructions.

I will give it a try.

With the 303, do you really have to reapply every 3-5 weeks?

I don't. I'll do a complete job once a year but my boat is in my garage when not on the water. Otherwise, just touch up as needed.
