Hi! My husband and I are the proud new owners of my Dad's old Whaler. It is the boat I learned to drive with. He sold it to my brother years and ago and he pretty much trashed it. He finally sold it to us after he bought a Four Winns...
So, we are repairing the hull. Refinishing the wood etc. We want to buy some replacement parts and are having a hard time loacating them!!! Specifically we are looking for railings and railing parts. We don't currently have a railing but want one, and the brackets that hold them in are peeling and don't look nice, we would like new ones. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kate

Kate,

I am sure you will enjoy restoring your dad's old boat.

Most parts are available. using he search function will get you going in the right direction with very little effort.

Regarding the rail fittings, if the chrome is peeling off of them, you will do better to remove them and have them re-chromed. They will end up being (literally) better than new.

You can also buy replacement fitting made of stainless steel but these will be slightly different in their shape and I am not impressed with the quality of the castings.

Any time you have original hardware, it is often better to restore it than try to replace it.

Specifically, which rails are you looking for?
