Two years ago, on my '62 13-footer, I replaced the pulley steering with Teleflex using the oft-mentioned standoff bracket. However, even with meticulous fresh water rinsing after every saltwater use, the bracket is rusting at its seams and leaving a nasty rusty drip stain running down the inside of the stern.

Curious to see if anyone else has this [corrosion problem] and whether anyone has suggestions on how to clean and then kill this rusting.

Thanks.

They make two stand off brackets, one is steel painted and the other is stainless, I have even seen the stainless one rust. This is just something that happens with time, water, salt, and sun. I would replace it with a stainless one and spray coat it with LPS 3. Good luck
