My [1989 Boston Whaler SPORT 13 boat] did not come with a [combined sidelights lamp]. I have added two aftermarket [combined sidelight lamps] over the years and the chrome seems to pit badly after a short period of time. I am in the process of bringing her back to top shape and have purchasd a new lamp and chock assemly from Specialty. I have looked at the Whaler website and the assembly of the light on the [40th Anniversary model]. This shows what they call a "plate, bowlight backup " which did not come with my light. I saw another light assemly online and it shows this plate. However it says "for some model boats " as this appears to be for strength to protect the bow can anyone tell me if I am going to need this and if so who may sell them. Thanks Again Jeff

Jeff,

This is just my impression, so take it for what it's worth.

Boston Whaler used very high quality hardware, woodwork and upholstery when they originally built our boats.

Specialty Marine has very attractive prices, but their product is not the same level of quality as original Boston Whaler.

For example, look at some of their Mahogany interior parts. Then go to Nautical Lumber and look at theirs. Mike (at Nautical Lumber) goes to considerable trouble to replicate the originals. Specialty Marine doesn't.

The same is true for their hardware. It isn't OEM quality. It may look the same in a photo, but it isn't true to the original.

If you want the "right stuff" you'll have to get it from a dealer (assuming it's still available) or find it used.

I agree , I would have liked to have found and original light, And I am going to look further for one , but for now I wanted to get the old corroded one replaced.
I just bought a seat back from Mike and it looks great.
Very high quality wood and finish, just got it today and can't wait to install it on the seat.
Take a run at " The Canyons" for me. great place.

Check e bay (used, sometimes new), Sue at Twin City (new old stock), or Marine Liquidators in Ft. Pierce Fla.(used, sometimes new). W Whaler is correct Boston Whaler used great stuff usually it was chrome over brass...Good luck

Another possible source less expensive than SM for those looking for a replacement. Don't know if it will work in this case but the price seems to be reasonable. Purchased a hinged plow anchor for my Outrage and was satisfied with the anchor and service.
