hey guys
I own an 1973 Cohasset II and I am repairing the entire thing, i was wondering if it was possible to get an entire new center console, I am looking for a early model montauk console to replace it with somewhere between 1977 - 1985. I was just seeing if someone would have any information on where i could find one and maybe the estimated prices for it. If anyone has any idea about replacing a center console, or has done it. would you please let me know.

Thanks
Patrick

I'm currently doing the same thing, I tried to look up the cost for a new console with no luck. Anyway I think if you could find a new one from whaler it would probably cost 1/2 of what your boat is worth.(unless you could find one in the public adds, ebay, craigs list) I'm drawing up custom a console for my 1975 17 whaler as we type. The console is going to be 26 wide 36 tall and 36 long. It will have a place to sit on the front of the console with a removable seat. I'm making the console out of divcel and fiberglass for light weight and strength. I'll be building a custom alum. gas tank and battery holder to go under the console. It will also have a small dry storage area and place for the radio. My boat is past being original I use my boat a lot and I make it simple and dependable. Do not have a lot of bells and whistles on the boat just put gas and oil and turn the key...good luck on your search

Patrick,
I own a 1973 CohassetII also. Why would you want to change consoles? I never understood why Fisher-Pierce adopted another console except to differentiate the Cohasset from the Montauk.

My brother-in-law (the boat builder) bought a 1971 Outrage III with the same console shell as the Cohasset.

He and his brothers like it so much there was talk of making a mold from it for reproductions. I thought that was a crazy idea, but maybe not?

The center console for the montauk I like better because it has more storage room, a nice windshield, and has a lot more room to put things on (rod holders, fish finders, ect ) And also like the look better. The cohasett II does make your boat have a lot more room around the center console, which is a plus, but i would rather find a montauk console. So if anyone has any information about where i could find one, or an internet site to go to, please let me know

Thanks Patrick

Thanks again Dennis. I had it listed here but nobody would make up their mind about shipping. Hope you enjoy it.
