Have any of the members installed a foot throttle on a 18 Outrage and how do you like it? At speed close to 50 , it's getting a little busy and a foot throttle might be more comfortable. Any input would be helpful high sierra.

With most "hot foots" you can use both the foot or hand throttle. If you have the room to store the hot foot and not trip over it, etc it could work well.

Tohsgib, I'll have to research it. Space is tight aft of the console. Wonder how it is to control when its' bumpy? high sierra

It will be to hard to operate, with the boat moving in any kind of sea you will not be able to keep your foot steady, I think you will be wasting your time trying to do it...good luck

I wouldn't mount one in a boat where you operate standing up. The possibility of getting pitched forward and standing on the throttle is to great. In a sitting down position it is much easier to lift when necessary.

Well it sounded like a fair to good idea but in listening to the replies and some research, it's probably not a good idea. Too many complications and not my style of driving. Thanks to all. high sierra

One thing you may want to consider is a helm mounted trim switch. Just trimming in will scrub speed and being able to do it with both hands on the wheel makes things a lot easier. Teleflex makes them for most of their helms and they just splice in to your existing three wire harness.

We have a Hotfoot mounted on our SL16, we drive sitting down all the time, we also have a Protrim trim switch on a stalk on the steering wheel. At 50mph nothing else works as well and keeping your foot on the pedal is no problem at all. We have had it mounted on a hardwood wedge to get the foot angle correct and have been using it like this for seven years with no trouble at all. We would not go back to a hand throttle.
