I'm trying to add T&T to my great running 85 hp Johnson. I can find T&T for a 1978 model. Will it fit? Thanks for any help. |

Yes, it should fit so long as it is an external mount unit. Here is my 1976 Newport with a 1974 Evinrude with a classic external mount TnT unit. You will need both the external bracket with the two rams and pump unit that mounts to the transom bracket along with the lift plate that mounts to the motor side of the leg bracket. http://picasaweb.google.com/jrohlfing/1976NewportOn709# http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v427/jeff_rohlfing/ 76%20Newport%20Near%20Complete/ |

You are better off finding a used CMC PT130 unit for about $300($500 new). This acts as a jackplate as well so if your engine is mounted in the blind holes, you can raise it up and get some much better performance. Also if the engine pukes, you can reuse or sell the unit. |

If the unit you are looking at is the oem external mount with the prestolite pump go for it. They work great and if the engine dies you can also resell them for $300+. CMC is fine too. Your mid section should be pre tapped already for the oem install. brian |

Skip the CMC unit and go OEM. My boat had the CMC unit on it when I bought it. I hated it hence why there is now the OEM unit on there. |

Depends. If you want PTnT and a jackplate you are now talking another $200. The CMC can do both. |

So far, I have not been able to find a used CMC or an OEM. The used OEMs are for a 78 and forward (the piston is internal to the mount). Any suggestions where to find either used? Alphams |

If you could live with the clunkiness of the CMC unit contact superdave_gv as I sold him my old unit and I do not think he used nor, is going to use it. If tohsgib thinks a used unit is worth 300 then you should be able to get it from him for a very fair price. http://continuouswave.com/cgi-bin/ubbmisc.cgi?action=getbio& UserName=superdave_gv here is an image of it. |

I sold mine that was 2-3 years old for $300. That is what I am going by. I have seen them on CL in the $100's but not sure of condition. New I think you can get one for like $450+ shipping. Mine was not clunky...just a tad loud and maybe a bit slow compared to OEM. |
