Take Em	posted 10-05-2009 06:32 PM ET (US)         I just drained the lower unit on my 225 FICHT. Top magnetic screw was covered with tiny pieces of metal. Normal? The existing o rings on there are the hard plastic ones like I had on a 1990 Evinrude years back. The replacement ones I picked up at the marina are soft black rubber o rings. And positives or negatives about either? Thanks, John
Peter	posted 10-05-2009 07:40 PM ET (US)             The OEM gaskets are white nylon. That's what I would use. A little fuzz on the drain plugs is normal.
Buckda	posted 10-06-2009 09:43 AM ET (US)             Regarding metal: Chunks are not good. "pencil shavings" indicate a possible problem and if it's just like gritty graphite that is easily "smeared" on a white paper towel, you're in good shape - that's normal.
