[Give me suggestions] how to properly [replace] the tachometer and trim indicator gauges [on a 1988 Boston Whaler SUPER SPORT of unknown length powered by a 2002 Johnson 115-HP V4 engine]. Thanks. tim

Any gauge brand will work. Make sure you get the SYSTEM CHECK tachometer with idiot lights.

The SYSTEM CHECK tachometer may be available from some after market manufacturers, but I'd stick with the OEM for this function. The trim gauge needs to be matched to the trim sender, so, again, it is probably best to get an OEM gauge. Since you will be replacing the original gauges, the wiring will be a one-for-one replacement. Make a sketch and take notes of the original configuration, and use them as a guide for installing the replacement gauges.
