I searched through the site looking for infor on this but haven't really found anyone that has had first hand knowledge on how effective Soda blasting is to remove Paint. I have a 25' Outrage that has been painted inside and out and I'm trying to find a good alternative to sanding to remove it. I plan to re-gelcoat once I get the paint off Anyone have any info on this? I am in Houston, Tx and would like to find someone local. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

We see this procedure a lot in south Florida - it works well, BUT ask to see some of the work they have done prior. It is a very good process but requires some skill to perform. Too much and they'll cut thru the gelcoat and into the glass itself. But when done right, it provides a good surface for repaint. It would be a huge amount of work to get it back to gloss gel coat status. If you want gloss gel coat, the better way is chemical removal and a hug amount of elbow grease.

A good alternative is soda blasting followed by Petitt Vivid white bottom paint. Very hard to tell it's not gelcoat.

Go look around classicmako.com. They do a lot of this type of thing. I would recommend Dupont Imron for the inside and hull sides, Vivid for the bottom.

I concur with the comments above regarding soda blasting.
It did not give the desired results for me since I
was not planning to repaint. The paint was removed
OK but some pitting occurred to the gel coat.
