Hi Everyone.

Looking to add largest cooler possible under my OEM leaning post on my 89 Outrage 18. See here for photo of leaning post: http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo18/donnydisco/Whaler/IMG_0674.jpg

The distance between the inside edges of the mounting brackets is 32.5" and the distance between the inside edges of the tubing is 34.5". Width fore to aft is 17 3/4" and height off the deck of the hinged cooler securing bracket is about 13".

The limiting dimension seems to be the length of the cooler. A 72 Qt. will fit for sure but has anyone fit a 94 Qt. in there? Notice that the length of the 94 Qt. is exactly the distance between the tubing.

Igloo Marine 94 Qt.
L34.5" x W16.75" x H17.63"

Igloo Marine 72 Qt.
L29.75" x W16.75" x H16.5"

I would just buy both and return one but inventories in local stores and this is not possible at this time.

Thanks,
IrishCreamer

Related thread. I am uncertain if the OEM leaning post on the 22 is the same as on the 18.

Sean,

The 94 quart cooler is what you want.

The original cooler that Whaler intended for that leaning post was the Igloo 86 quart cooler which was superseded by the 94 quart cooler after 1990.

The primary difference between them is the lid which is taller on the 94 quart and accounts for the increased capacity.

The OE leaning post for the Outrage 18 is the same as for the larger Outrage models of the same era.
