I have an 2009 [Boston Whaler 170 MONTAUK] with Mercury 90-HP FOURSTROKE. I find that there is no single trim position that is best for all [engine or boat] speeds. I would like to add a trim indicator gauge. What is required? Is there a sensor or signal already available? Thanks--Al |

Typically a TRIM GAUGE uses a rheostat sender mounted on the engine to operate an electrical meter gauge on the dashboard. If your engine does not have the sensor you can probably order it as a part and easily add it. The gauge needs to be matched to the sender. |

You can use the website http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/ to look-up your engine and see if the sender is included. You need your engine serial number to start the look-up process |

Easy install. Here is the thread I used before I installed mine. |

Yes, it's an amazingly simple job. The wire is already in the bundle from engine to console, gauge installation is a no-brainer, engine is tapped for the sender mounting screws. |

I like that it matches the other guages. Do you have the part number for the guage and sender? Thanks. |

Here, I took pictures of the install on a 75 Mercury 2 stroke. It should be about the same on any Merc. It took longer to take the picture than the actual install. Look closely at the pictures you can read the part numbers. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender1.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender2.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender3.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender4.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender5.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender6.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender7.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender8.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender9.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender10.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender13.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender14.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Fishgutz/Boat%20Tech%20Pics/ TrimSender15.jpg |
