My Ritchie Navigator compass needs replacing on my 1985 Revenge WT, 25' The original model is a FN-50. I received an estimate for $300 for a complete rebuild. I can purchase a new FN-201 for about $225 but it is plastic compared to brass. Has anybody made this conversion? Will I need to make the hole bigger? Can this be done without removing the windshield? Should I go for the rebuild?

You might try calling Ritchie (781-826-5131). They have a great customer service department and may know of a dealer that has some old stock. Or try EBAY for a new-old-stock unit.

Just found out that Viking Optics will rebuild for $136. Sounds much better than $300. Thanks for your reply. Ray |

I sent my Ritchie Compass to Viking instruments to get restored. They replaced the glass globe, new wires, new fluid and it got a new paint job. Turned out beautiful. Turn around time was pretty quick. Mine costs me $170. I have before and after pictures posted on the whaler central website under personal pages. My page is the 19' 1973 outrage serial #0001. |
