Topic:   Mercury 225 EFI smokes when trimmed down

posted 09-04-2010 08:48 PM ET (US)         I have been trying to figure out why my 1996 Mercury 225 EFI smokes alot when I start it up? I changed the oil I was using to a senthic blend, checked the tank pressure and changed to the OEM plug but it still smoked ALOT until it warmed up. I finially noticed that it only does it when the motor is trimmed all the way down and I can level it out and it will stop smoking so much, trim it back down and it starts rolling blue smoke. Has anyone got any good information on this. Thanks
