I have a 1972 Sourpuss (center Steering, blue hull, notched transom) I raised the transom for a 20" shaft using the KentFab instert and am now installing Teleflex steering for a new Yamaha 25 two-stroke. I have measured for the steering cable and it looks like it is 2" over 10'. Based on the Teleflex measuring instrucitons I am supposed to round up to 11' but this feels too long. Has anyone installed Teleflex on a Sourpuss and if so what length steering cable did you use? Thanks Stephen |

I have a 15' Whaler console in my 13' so my steering is almost centered and I use a 10' cable with room to spare. The cable will curve at the stern which will give you more than 2" of slack. |

Try this link: My 13' Super Sport does take an 11' teleflex cable. |

Crap...now I have to go out and look at how long mine really is. I could have sworn it was 10'. |

It is easy enough to measure exactly where the helm is located vis-à-vis the centerline of the hull, but you also have to consider how far forward of the transom it is. Do NOT assume that all consoles on all classic 13 footers were positioned exactly the same distance forward of the transom. |

Good assumption Tom. I still think that the 2" would be more than compensated for the curve it makes coming out of the console and around the transom if he measured straight lines. |

I spent some more time measuring yesterday. It looks like 11' the length that I should use. Thanks to all for their advice. Stephen |
