Whilst applying some heat to a stuck steering tube I singed the hollow tube, that's about 1/4" OD, that appears to run to the rpm guage on the console to the O/B. Is there any advice anywhere I can go to to see how to replace the hollow tube to the outboard (it seems to join the O/B at the lower leg and shaft junction and are there any sources for the tubing? Thanks in advance...

I think this tube connects a tiny hole in the leading edge of the lower unit to a speedometer which runs on pressure. If you don't have that gauge the tube is of no concern. |

Thank you for the reply. My mistake, it does go to the speedometer. Any sources to buy replacement tubing (plastic 1/4") and any references on how to do the repair. Thank you, |

The local hardware store or pet store (think aquarium) should have some tube and a splice. Just replace the damaged portion by splicing in a new piece. |
