I have now mounted a 2006 Suzuki DF115 on my 1973 Outrage 19.

I have already purchased a new 15' Teleflex NFB steering cable as this was the same length as was used in the boat prior to my repower. Is this the right length for this motor, or did I get the wrong length?

I do not know the length of the control cables for the new Suzuki.

I have an independent mobile mechanic that I was planning on using for the rest of the rigging and motor installation. As such, I need to pick up the control cables.

What length should I buy?

If I cant determine the correct length of cables, then I probably will just tow the boat to the dealer and have him complete the installation.

The steeering cable for the original Big-T system should be 18'.

The engine cables can also be 18', but in my rigging work I discovered 19' cables would have been better since my Mercury 150 is on a 6" setback jackplate.

Here are some photos of my work:

I am not questioning the 18' steering cable that was originally used in the Big-T system, but I am just wondering how my old Evinrude 175hp worked with a 15' cable?

Larry I like your "clean" rigging with using the side 1/4 round cutout in the seat for routing your cables and fuel lines. I guess this would also require cables 1 to 2 feet longer than if the cables had been run through the round cut-out in the seat bench.

Right now my Suzuki DF115 moter is installed on the transom and not on a jackplate. I mounted the motor "all the way up" based on recommendations from this forum. If I end up having to lower the motor, it will mean having to use a jackplate.

It seems that maybe I should go with 19' control cables now, just in case I end up going with a jackplate at some point in the future.
