I'm thinking of having a bow pulpit made for my Conquest 21 out of KING StarBoard. It'll be laminated from two-pieces, 3/4-inch on top with non-skid and 1-1/2-inch on bottom, for a 2-1/4-inch overall thickness, with stainless [steel] "L" profile in between the two halves glued up and screwed together. Any concerns or [problems] with this material before I go down this path? Thanks for your input. |

Regarding making a bow pulpit from a laminate of stainless steel "L profile" and KING Starboard, my concern is for the strength and weight of the structure. I think it is going to be heavy and not particularly strong. |

I agree with Jim - I don't believe that king starboard is meant to be structural. |

Is fiberglass the only other practical option? any other ideas? |

According to the King Starboard website, they mention "bow pulpits" and "swim platforms" under the applications tab. http://www.kingplastic.com/products/all-products/king-starboard-family/ king-starboard-as/ |

Well look at that. I stand corrected. |

the strength to weight ratio, isn't that of fiberglass. would you fish with a starboard fishing rod. in the last month i've seen 3 fg pulpits for $200. |

The fiberglass ones look somewhat cheap to me, with hollow, or wood filled cores. The Starboard product seems to look better and can be cut to any shape, without a new mold being made. But, it only makes sense if its strong enough and will not add substantial weight to the bow. |
