perdidowhaler	posted 07-30-2011 11:49 PM ET (US)         I JUST INSTALLED A NEW TELEFLEX m SERIES CONTROL BOX( TOP MOUNT}, IT IS THE SAME MODEL I REPLACED. mY PROBLEM IS AFTER i GOT EVERY THING INSTALLED AND i CRANKED THE MOTOR (2003 jOHNSON 90)IT SURGED TO 5000 RPMS, I AM BAFFLED AT WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM, iT DID NOT DO THIS WITH THE OLD SHIFT BOX. i HAVE ADJUSTED THE THROTTLE CABLE, NO CHANGE. wHAT AM i OVER LOOKING ?

Buckda	posted 07-31-2011 09:38 AM ET (US)             Check the throttle cable at the engine. It may be too toght and pulling the throttle open when the control box is in neutral.
Buckda	posted 07-31-2011 09:40 AM ET (US)             Never mind. All that yelling distracted me. Try disconnecting the throttle cable entirely at the motor.
