I want to install a transducer for a Humminbird 788ci on my 1998 21' Conquest and if possible would like to make it a shoot thru the hull. (Hate drilling holes in my boat.) Is there a specific location for the shoot thru hull transducer? Thanks.

I'm no expert but we did have a Humminbird thru hull transducer installed in our 25' outrage a few years back. They drilled the hole thru the live well. As I remember the hull was pretty thick and in fact they had to build up the area inside the hole so the retaining screw worked properly. The transducer is mounted on the centerline. One of their considerations was the noise from the dual props but they did a great job and we haven't had any issues with it at all.

Retired: Depending on how exotic you want to get the correct way would be to cut out a large hole (larger than the sender), Fill in the hole with a fiberglass plug so to speak. Re-drill the plug and mount the sender in the plug. I would use a brass sender (airmar) this would give you the best read to your unit. The thur hull sender/transducer will only stick about 1/4 inch below the bottom of the boat... I would also do a search for Basshole, He has developed some-type of transom saver for mounting the sending unit to the transom with no screws...Good luck

Check with Boston Whaler customer service. Ask them if there is a transducer putty box molded into the hull of your 1998 Boston Whaler 21 CONQUEST. They will know for certain where the SONAR transducer could be best installed as a shoot-through.

I spoke to a [customer service representative] with Boston Whaler [who told me that] I cannot use a shoot thru hull transducer [on a Boston Whaler 21 CONQUEST]. Thank you, everyone.

Retired-Where were you when I just gave out 20 free Stern Savers so you don't have to drill any holes in your boat? The "seafoam" color is a perfect match for your hull color. Check out the link here. I have one mounted to my 98' 21 conquest.

These pics show four possible mounting locations for your boat...
