Hi, I've just purchased a 1974 11' with console. The boat requires a lot of cleaning and TLC. I have noticed a circular port under the bow locker and I am not sure what it is. I tried doing a search with not much success. Would it be an access port to inside the hull?

Also, the trailer winch handle hits the bottom of the boat every time I turn. Is there a shorter handle or is there a more proper way to fix this problem. The keel roller also caused an 2-3" long indentation as well.

Thanks and much appreciated.

If it is about 6-7 inch in dia, and the bottom of the front anchor locker, I believe this is were the foam is injected in the whaler mold, and that is the finish plug

Sorry, could not pull up your pictures, however sounds like you just need a winch adjustment, to move it lower/away from the bow eye.

Dave Thanks to Jessie I can see you pictures, You need to raise your winch so that the rubber roller meets/sits on top of the bow eye and the boat, you have it way to low...

Agree that the winch needs to be moved up. If that is done, the boat will be repositioned on the trailor toward the rear (probably 6 to 8 inches) and could shift the balance/weight back on the trailor. If needed to compensate and if the tongue length allows, the post holding the winch could be moved forward.

The bow roller should restrict the hull right above the bow eye. This keeps the boat from riding up if you panic stop. the strap should be under the bow roller.

You want the winch strap level so you are pulling straight, not lifting the hull.

Sorry not "restrict". Damn auto correct on my I-phone. Should be rest.

Great. Thanks. I will go adjust the winch support arm.

You need to have the transom supported by the trailer.

Can you move the vertical part of the winch stand forward on
the trailer tongue and the horizontal part up.

Chuck
