Howdy Folks. I think I just bought the last bow Hi-rise chair mount bracket from Pick Instrument Products in Texas, although Melba did say they still have some pedestal mounts available, but not making either any more. I have the bow wood piece with no bracket on a [1991] Outrage 17 anchor locker. I'm thinking of turning my SPORT 15 into a bass boat and moving the wood base from my [1991 OUTRAGE] to the SPORT 15.Tell me how the bow mounting bracket attaches to the wood piece. Do the bolts pass all the way through into the locker or is the seat mount bracket just lag screwed into the wood piece? What screws did Whaler use? I would like to keep as close to original as possible. Where are a couple of original seats [currently being sold at] a reasonable price? [What is] a nice alternative [seat to the original seat]? [Changed to completely new topic. Please start a new thread for that topic--jimh] Thanks in advance for any advice. Kenny

Can you show a few pictures of the wood you are describing on your 17 outrage. |

Thanks for the reply VIN1722OR.The best picture I could find is the last one on page 50 of the Cetacea. It is the angled wood piece that is sandwiched between the front side of the anchor locker and seat bracket. However, I can't tell if the mounting bolts go all the way through or just lagged into the wood - I strongly suspect they go through. Thanks, Kenny |

There are 4 bolts that go all the way through the bulk head with a single solid aluminum backing plate inside the anchor locker. The older 15's only have foam in the cavity and will not work. Newer 15's have wood there to support the load. Not sure when the wood center started. The base should take a 2 3/8 pedestal. |

Thanks JFORTSON very much for the response. My wood locating diagram for the 15' 4" hull is dated 5/28/75 and shows 4" x 18" x 1/2" plywood fore and aft face of the anchor bulkhead. My 15' SPORT is a 1982 model, so I assume the wood is there. I appreciate the information about the bolts. Now I just need to find a good seat! Kenny |

Yes, I believe the wood is located behind the glass in that section.I would definitly through bolt it with SS bolts and either a SS or aluminum backing plate. A seat can put a lot of torque on the mount! |
