I'm still in the process of restoring my 1985 13-foot Boston Whaler boat. [I have] the fiberglass center console in, took all the mahogany out, took the outboard off and fixed all the spider cracks and other serious cracks, etc. I came across a box that holds the connector that the transom navigation lamp plugs into. The box is in the worst condition possible--haha. It will literally crack into a million pieces if you even touch it. See the picture for proof. Where can I find a replacement box? What is this box called? Thanks very much. |

I got one from Twin Cities Marine. I had to drill the holes for the box. I went to West Marine and bought nylon grommits and ran the wire through the grommits. Or, try a electrical supply house and ask for a biscuit jack box. |

I do not believe that the box shown in your linked images is an OEM component from Boston Whaler. Small cast aluminum or plastic enclosures are made by many manufacturers for the electronics trades. See http://www.hammondmfg.com/scpg.htm You can find these sold through dozens of distributors. |

I went to Radio Shack and picked up a small "Electronic Project Box" http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=project%20box& origkw=project+box&sr=1 . With a bit of careful measuring, I drilled the holes and mounted the switch, and used grommets to seal the wires that come out... |

Like Rong, I recommend the small desert tan color box sold by Twin Cities for about $3. The bottom half of the box mounts to the hull, and does need some drilling for the wires in the hull to enter, and also for the wires going in and coming out. The box is perfectly sized for a 4 gang terminal block fitted inside (only three terminals needed), for making the connections. Here is my installation in a Montauk: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v429/lgoltz/Montauk%2017/?action=view& current=Scan_Pic0031.jpg You can see the pigtail connector for the stern light. |

L H G I looked at all your pictures and really enjoyed them. I thought my Montauk was in great shape but it does not compare to yours. What is the year? I need to replace my plastic box as it has a crack in it and I appreciate the information. |

Thanks Bullbay. The Montauk is a 1979, as is the engine, but the trailer is new, 2010. |
